This site is the personal author website of M.R. Forbes. This policy explains what data is collected, why, and your rights.
What I collect
- Mailing list: If you sign up for the newsletter, I store your email address (and optionally your name) in Listmonk, my self-hosted email tool. Emails are delivered via Mailgun.
- Contact form: Your name, email, and message are sent to me by email via Mailgun. They are not stored in a database.
- Comments: If you leave a comment on a book page, your name and comment text are stored in Supabase. Comments are moderated before appearing publicly. Email is optional and never displayed.
- Spam protection: Forms are protected by Cloudflare Turnstile, which may collect limited technical data (IP, user agent) to verify you are human.
- Analytics: Pages may load the Meta (Facebook) Pixel to measure ad performance. This sets cookies and shares limited browsing data with Meta.
- Hosting: The site is served by Cloudflare Pages, which logs standard request data (IP, user agent) for security and performance.
How I use it
- To send the newsletter and release announcements you signed up for

- To display approved comments on book pages
- To prevent spam and abuse
- To measure the effectiveness of advertising
Sharing
I do not sell your data. It is shared only with the service providers listed above (Listmonk on my own server, Mailgun, Supabase, Cloudflare, Meta), each acting as a processor on my behalf.
Your rights
- Unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time using the link in any email, or via the preferences page.
- Delete your data: Email me and I will remove your subscription, comments, or any other data I hold about you.
- If you are in the EU/UK, you have rights under GDPR including access, correction, deletion, and objection.
Cookies
The site uses cookies for spam protection (Turnstile) and, if loaded, the Meta Pixel. No other tracking cookies are set.
